Recently, the China Biotechnology Innovation Conference 2020 was officially launched in Suzhou International Expo Center. With the theme of "Technology Boosts Health, Innovation Leads the Future". The conference focuses on scientific research on cutting edge biotechnology and biosafety to fully demonstrate the latest development in the field of biotechnology and aims to promote industrial exchanges, cooperation, and integrated innovation.
More than 30 academicians and 2,000 experts and scholars gathered at Suzhou's famous Jinji Lake to talk about China's biotechnology innovation and development. Ricky Sun, the world-renowned expert in cloud computing, high-performance storage, and big data, was invited to attend and deliver a speech at the Bio-information Innovation and Development Forum of the conference.
The forum was successfully held on Nov. 4th, and China Bioinformation Technology and Industrial Innovation Strategic Alliance were established, aiming to practice national innovation-driven development and industrial transformation. The conference was hosted by Professor Wang Yadong of Harbin Institute of Technology and Li Yixue of Shanghai Biological Information Technology Research Center.
Han Jincai, executive vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Sun Yanrong, deputy director of Biotechnology Development Center of The Ministry of Science and Technology, delivered speeches at the forum. Academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jin Li, Zhao Guoping, and Chen Runsheng, reported respectively on "Issues and challenges faced by medical health big data", "The foundation of biomedical big data serves the biotechnology innovation" and "From COVID-19 and precision medicine to nucleic acid drugs".
The conference revolves around hot topics such as life science and frontier technology, research and development of COVID-19 pandemic, innovative drug research and clinical research, medical devices and in vitro diagnosis, frontier technology of cell science, China's human genetic resources, and achievements of the national Key RESEARCH and development plan in the field of biotechnology during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Yin Ye, Researcher and CEO of BGI, Ricky Sun, big data expert and CEO of Ultipa, Bai Jingwei, Associate Professor and CSO of Qitan Tech, and Yang Min, Professor of Fudan University reported respectively on four recent research and development achievements, which were "Innovative Paradigm of BGI Global Scientific and Technological Anti-Epidemic", "Real-time Deep Graph Computing Empowers Universal Connection Finding", "Development Progress of Domestic Nanopores Gene Sequencer" and "Biometric Data Security in Cyberspace".
"In the era of big data and artificial intelligence, the intelligent medical enterprises in China are accelerating their digital transformation, health care is no longer a matter of hospital, but to construct the correlation of graph data by multidimensional and multimodal data fusion, and to further implement the personalized medicine and health management based on graph intelligence." Ricky Sun addressed this in his report.
Ultipa, the highly concurrent, distributed, and real-time graph database system, can be applied to genetic testing, drug development, pathological analysis, clinical path modeling, disease risk factors and health management, insurance data analysis decision, and other areas of the multidimensional data fusion. Meanwhile, it can assist the construction of business intelligence and real-time decision-making system at different stages in the health care industry by providing explainable AI in a white box manner.
Experts and scholars attending the meeting highly agreed with the theme of the conference, "Technology Boosts Health, Innovation Leads the Future". In the science and technology industry, graph database is a new frontier field that is getting more and more attention. The application of graph database systems to help the medical and health industry is the future development trend of the medical industry. In addition, Ultipa enabling the research on bio-information also "blows a new wind in the field of bio-information".
